Engr. Dr. Aamir Nawaz (Lecturer)

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. Electrical Engineering/Power System Optimizations (Shandong University, China).
  • M.Sc Electrical Engineering (University of Engineering & Technology, Taxila, Pakistan).
  • B.Sc Electrical Engineering (University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan).

Research Interests

My main research areas are Power System Planning, Operation, and Control. During my M.Sc., I have worked on Load Forecasting based on Artificial Intelligence, Power System Optimization, and Multi-Modular Converters. Further, in my Ph.D., I enhanced my research towards high-scale integration of renewable energy into power systems, study the coordination of transmission and distribution system operators, and Stochastic analysis of risk-constrained power systems. Currently, I am focusing on the following research areas:

  1. Challenges of Next-Generation Power Systems
  2. Study of Coordinated Power Systems with High-Scale Integration of Renewable Energy
  3. Applications of Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks) in Power Systems
  4. Study the Impacts of Electric Vehicles, and Renewable Energy on Smart Grids
  5. Advanced Multi-Modular Converters for HVDC Applications
